About Forum Europa & New Economy Forum (NEF)

FORUM EUROPA is part of NEW ECONOMY INTERNATIONAL FORUM (NEF), a leading organisation promoting economic, social, and political debate under the principles of independence and pluralism.

MISSION. With a strong pro-European vocation, NEF is a meeting point and networking platform: a space for all opinions, bringing together the most relevant speakers to discuss key ideas and proposals on essential issues for the future of the European Union (EU).

Founded in 2000 by Jose Luis Rodriguez, PhD in Journalism, it regularly organises events in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Seville, Malaga, and Valencia.

In February 2024, NEF sets up Forum Europa as a stable forum in Brussels, leveraging its successful experience in Spain, including its long-term collaboration with EU institutions and Members states since it began its activities in 2000.

REPUTATION. The regularity of its activities, its independence, the diverse and high profiles of both its speakers and its audience, as well as the extensive media coverage, have helped NEF build its international reputation, especially in Europe (and Spain). In this way, NEF contributes to the debate and analysis of the different issues that affect and concern citizens, with special attention to the economic ones.

SPONSORSHIP. NEF finances its activities through the sponsorship of companies and other private entities, guaranteeing its independence and plurality.

MEMBERSHIP. The organisation enjoys the support of a membership, called Circle of Trust, made up of 150 presidents and CEOs of as many companies and institutions.

MEDIA COVERAGE. The fact that NEF is not linked to specific media favours greater involvement and coverage by the press, radio and television. Its website and newsletters further contribute to the impact of its activities. NEF conducts its open events in hybrid format – in-person and online – with its own resources.

AWARDS. Since 2003, the New Economy Forum Awards have honoured institutions and personalities for their unique contribution to sustainable economic development and social cohesion. The awards have been presented to the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), the Presidents of the European Council, the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the European Central Bank (ECB); the Presidents of Italy, Portugal, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia; the Chancellor of Germany; the Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD); the Director-General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO); the Managing Director the International Monetary Fund (IMF); the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy; and the “fathers” of the Spanish Constitution.
