The Vice-President of the European Commission for the Promotion of our European Way of Life, Margaritis Schinas, stressed on Monday at the Forum Europa in the EU capital that “more Spain in Brussels” is needed and praised the fact that the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Spanish Nadia Calviño, has reached this position through a “truly competitive” process and not as a result of quotas, “positive discrimination” or pacts.

This is what Schinas said in this informative event organised by the New Economy Forum in Brussels, in which he intervened to introduce Calviño, who was the star of the event with a conference.

Schinas began by admitting that he is a “friend” of Spain and that this country is increasing its share in Europe, which he considered “good”. He called for “more Spain in Brussels”.

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, stated this Tuesday at Forum Europa in Brussels that "we have a lot of instability on the Mediterranean coast and we have to preserve the countries that are still stable". 

During a meeting organised by the New Economy Forum in the EU capital, Josep Borrell responded to a question on European policy with Morocco, its military manoeuvres near the waters off the Canary Islands and the problem of irregular immigration. 

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, affirmed this Tuesday at Forum Europa in Brussels that Israel will not have security "even if Hamas is completely eradicated" and urged the implementation of the two-state solution.

During a meeting organised by the New Economy Forum in the EU capital, Josep Borrell responded to a question on what to do to stop civilian deaths in the Gaza Strip and asserted that the solution lies in a ceasefire, the release of hostages and starting to work on a political solution.

The High Representative stressed that the release of the hostages captured by Hamas in the terrorist attacks of 7 October last year "is something that has to happen unconditionally".

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, said this Tuesday at the Forum Europa in Brussels that "NATO cannot continue to be credible unless the European members increase their military credibility".

During a meeting organised by the New Economy Forum in the EU capital, Josep Borrell considered that European citizens must understand that "the American umbrella that protected us during the Cold War and afterwards may not be open all the time".
