The European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius, stated this Friday at the Forum Europa  in Brussels that "we must ensure that Putin does not fall into the temptation" of attacking an EU country.

Andrius Kubilius stated this at a briefing organized by the New Economy Forum in the EU capital, during which he discussed the European Union's rearmament plans and the current global geopolitical situation.

Kubilius stressed that "Ukraine is facing brutal aggression" from Russia and noted that "we are also suffering hybrid attacks, which could be followed by military attacks”.

The European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius, stated this Friday at the Forum Europa in Brussels that "it's time for us to stand on our own two feet" to protect the 450 million citizens that make up the EU.

Andrius Kubilius urged promoting European security autonomy at a briefing organized by the New Economy Forum in the EU capital, in light of Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine and the US administration's shift in its stance toward the EU following the arrival of Donald Trump.

Kubilius asserted that the European Union is not competing with NATO and considered that, if the 27 support the rearmament plan proposed by the Commission, the European Union can provide added value "to ensure that NATO member states have the weapons they need to do their job”.

The European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification, Valdis Dombrovskis, set competitiveness and security as the priorities of the European Union in relation to the United States, with the new direction that Donald Trump is marking from the White House.

Dombrovskis recalled at the breakfast briefing organised by New Economy Forum in the EU capital that the European Commission has begun to work on a list of priorities to face the new Administration of Donald Trump. One is competitiveness, including (legislative) simplification, and the other is security, the commissioner explained.

The European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity, Implementation and Simplification, Valdis Dombrovskis, declared this Friday at the Forum Europa in Brussels that the EU will not release frozen Russian assets until the country pays for the reconstruction of Ukraine.

Dombrovskis recalled at this breakfast briefing organised by New Economy Forum in the EU capital that, according to international laws, the aggressor is responsible for the damage it is creating. We will make sure that Russia pays for the damage it is creating in Ukraine, he insisted.

Dombrovskis pointed out at a breakfast briefing organised by New Economy Forum in the EU capital that one of the great challenges of the European Commission is to reduce the regulatory burden without giving up objectives such as the green and technological transition and, of course, without giving up the rights of its citizens and workers. Preserving our prosperity and our security leaves us no other option, he said in his speech.
