Executive Vice-President Mînzatu highlights the European Social Fund as a pillar of social cohesion in the EU

The Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, Roxana Mînzatu, defended this Wednesday at the Forum Europa in Brussels the European social model as a "competitive advantage" for the EU and announced a minimum investment of 100 billion euros from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) for social objectives between 2028 and 2034.

The EU champions training and quality employment to boost competitiveness

The Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Social Rights and Skills, Roxana Mînzatu, emphasised this Wednesday at the Forum Europa in Brussels the need to strengthen vocational training and digital skills to improve Europe's competitiveness.

During an event organised by New Economy Forum in the EU's capital, Mînzatu stressed that "the European social model is our strongest competitive advantage in the turbulent times we are going through", although she acknowledged that there are significant challenges in terms of qualifications.

The EU will present its "first strategy" against poverty next year

The Executive Vice-President of the European Commission for Social Rights, Roxana Mînzatu, announced this Wednesday at the Forum Europa in Brussels that her institution will present its "first" comprehensive strategy against poverty next year, with the aim of eradicating this social problem in the EU by 2050 and lifting 15 million Europeans out of the risk of social exclusion by 2030.

Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice President of the European Commission for Technological Sovereignty, unveiled an ambitious plan this Thursday at the Forum Europa in Brussels to position the EU at the forefront of artificial intelligence and critical technologies.

During the event organised by New Economy Forum in the EU's capital, Virkkunen highlighted that Europe already has 13 operational AI factories across 17 Member States, which will provide optimised computing services for businesses and researchers.

New Economy Forum further consolidates Forum Europa as a key platform for exchanging ideas to strengthen the Union

New Economy Forum's Forum Europa started its activities in Brussels, the capital of the European Union, in February 2024, under the motto "Ideas to Strengthen the Union". Since then, New Economy Forum has continued to consolidate it as a meeting point for the political, economic and social spheres of the EU, its Member States, neighbours and partners.

At the Fórum Europa in Brussels on Tuesday, commissioner for Climate, Net Zero Emissions and Clean Growth, Wopke Hoekstra, advocated for a "Marshall Plan for Energy" in the EU, with a boost to renewable and nuclear electrification, more electrical interconnections between EU countries, and an increase in battery storage capacity.
